There are quaint characters like the fellow whose hut is in the middle of nowhere, who used to collect money for the Flying Doctors from donations tourists would give him and bets which he'd let them make. The miners in Adamooka give of themselves to the earth - their passion keeps them in the outback in pretty harsh conditions despite the fact they don't even have a voice because the town doesn't have a fully fledged council.

Andamooka does not have free flowing water or a football team, but it does have community spirit.
